This mural isn’t just paint on a wall—it’s a message that matters.
At Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, MD, a powerful idea became a permanent reminder: that mental health is just as important as physical health, especially for student-athletes. What started as a vision from a passionate group of students and staff has now become a public symbol of resilience, compassion, and community strength.
The mural was created in honor of Morgan’s Message, a national nonprofit founded in memory of Morgan Rodgers. The organization is dedicated to eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health in athletics and advocates for equal care—mental and physical—for every student-athlete. It also empowers young people to speak up, support one another, and seek help without shame.
This wall is the result of months of planning, community effort, and student-led initiative. From concept to completion, this project was built with love from the inside out—and we’re incredibly honored that We Are Limitless Studios was chosen to bring it to life through mural art.
A special thank you goes out to the heart-forward Decatur staff—Lindsay Owens, Shannon Bone, and Wendy Shirk—and the incredible student leaders who drove this vision every step of the way. Thank you to Freeman Arts Pavilion for supporting the project, and to the Ocean City community for showing up in full force to help make this possible.
On the official paint day, over 100 students and staff came out to contribute to the wall—proof that when you invite people into the process, the impact multiplies. This mural is as much theirs as it is ours.
At WALS, we don’t just paint walls—we empower people. We believe murals can educate, connect, and heal. This project reminded us why we do what we do.
Let this wall forever speak the words so many need to hear:
You are not alone. You are not weak. Your mental health matters.
And of course—huge love to:
@chloektattoos, who led the design on her first major mural project (and crushed it beautifully)
@sahraera, for your steady talent and creative energy
The Brand, for capturing behind-the-scenes content of the entire day
@jay_productions3, for the incredible photos that helped us document the moment
🎥 Be on the lookout for a mini documentary covering the project coming soon.
